ABOUT ME

MEET SOPHIA
Hello! My name is Sophia Cáceres. I'm a senior at Swarthmore College and I love good food. When I say I love "good food," I don't mean just delicious food. Don't get me wrong, delicious food is wonderful. It makes us pause and question what the hell we've been doing with our instant ramen and burnt scrambled eggs. However, good food has this gorgeous uniqueness of making us feel deeply. Good food is the product of emotion and the culmination of minutes, or hours, of cooking all wrapped up in a singular dish.
Delicious food is good food, but not all good food is delicious. Good food includes that category of weirdness that we can't quite place. It's not unpleasant but also you hesitate to take a second bite. The difference is that the good food that hasn't been my favorite still challenged me to stop and think about the purpose behind the dish I'm eating. I can appreciate the brininess of a raw oyster without entirely enjoying it because I understand that the cold saltiness is meant to be refreshing. I just don't like raw oysters.
All that being said, I created this blog to share my good food experiences with you all because 1) I like telling stories and 2) because by reframing eating, cooking, and sharing food as an emotional experience, we might enjoy participating in those things a little more.
